DSI Grace Kwon (‘20) on Finding Purpose in Design

Pragya Mahendru grew up in New Delhi, India. She graduated from Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology in Bangalore where she learned the power of design thinking. She believes that to design is to create new experiences, in which happiness is the essential outcome. At DSI, she aims to equip herself with the tools necessary to take her ideas from prototypes to meaningful system change.

Now that she has completed her MFA, Pragya is currently based out of New York, and is working as a communications designer for UNDP. She works closely with the partnerships group to increase funding for development, and also creates campaigns to promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

One of the most rewarding parts of her work has been forming a union for NYC based consultants, where her company advocates for better benefits, equal pay and reduced inequalities amongst consultants and staff members.
