This spring we welcome in a new faculty member to teach our Games for Impact module! We are so proud to introduce Axel, the newest member of the DSI community!

AXELGames for Impact

Axel (it, they) is a queer Jamaican-born illustrator, co-conspirator, daughter, sister, uncle, auntie, friend, haiku aficionado, and homo sapiens sapiens! Their love of art, research, and design led them to pursue a career in experience design. They’d like to use their knowledge of technological systems to improve the lives of underserved people. Much of their work has been informed by their interests in design thinking, liberatory design, human-computer interaction, social activism, civic tech and gameful technologies.

Their interests include anime, abolition, cosplay, crocheting, playing ukulele, and exploring new ways to embody freedom and care. When they aren’t designing the things in Figma, you’ll find it in teaching itself how to skateboard, making art, binging anime, playing dungeons and dragons, and loving on their community.

Axel holds an MS in Integrated Digital Media from New York University Tandon School of Engineering and a BA in Information Science with a French minor from Cornell University.
