Effy Tam (MFA DSI ’23)

 

Effy Tam (Xiaoming Tan) is a service designer, user experience researcher, and cultural strategist working at the intersection of community well-being, storytelling, and cross-cultural engagement. At Life Story Club, she leads UX and Chinese-language programming to combat social isolation among older adults. Her work integrates user-centered metrics, service design, and internal systems strategy to strengthen service delivery, operational efficiency, and impact evaluation.

Effy is also the co-founder of AAAAH Culture, a nonprofit organization supporting emerging Asian creatives through seasonal cultural festivals, exhibitions, community events, and youth programs. She sees design as a tool for problem-solving, grounded in the co-design of the systems we live in with those impacted by them. Her work reflects a deep commitment to equity, co-creation, and cultural fluency.
