What do Housing, Health and Social Design have in Common?
A few weeks ago, MFA Design for Social Innovation organized an exciting narrative work session with doctors from the Montefiore Primary Care & Social Internal Medicine program to co-design storytelling activities around Housing Justice in the Bronx.
We focused on our community partner Northwest Bronx Community & Clergy Coalition (NWBCCC)’s advocacy campaign to give Bronx residents more control over their housing through the Tenant Opportunity to Purchase Act (TOPA). We explored residents’ position as community advocates, the health need for stable and affordable housing, and designed communications that would create awareness and energy around TOPA.
After the workshop, Montefiore doctors met residents from a community-owned housing in the Bronx to hear firsthand their experience with tenant ownership.
