Irene (Shiyun) Tang

Irene (Shiyun) Tang is a designer from China who graduated from Nanjing University of the Arts with a degree in Art History. In her work, she is committed to studying social systems and equality at the intersection of “history” and “modernity,” focusing on innovative ways to integrate technology into the fabric of society.

With an interest in minority groups and millennials, such as the issues emerging from modernization amongst nomadic Mongolian people, Shiyun joined DSI with the aim of breaking down the one-way relationship of “helper-recipient” and activating the endogenous creativity of a group of people through design, so that they can become the subjects of change rather than the objects of it.
