PRETTY/UGLY is radically rethinking sustainability through content creation, live events, and strategic collaborations in work that communicates the interdependence of man and nature. With a sense of urgency and possibility, PRETTY/UGLY’s work makes clear: “there is no garbage in nature.”

Tianyue (Caroline) Zhang
Caroline Zhang is from Shanghai, China, and studied sociology at the Shanghai University of Finance & Economics. She worked as an intern in MRM//McCANN and GQ Magazine in Shanghai. Caroline wants to combine her sociology knowledge with arts and design to make the world better.

Tara Maurice
Tara Maurice was born in Canada, raised in Southern California, and is now living, working and raising a family in NYC. She is an amalgam of this unique triangle that connects time and geography. Trained and working professionally as a designer, Tara comes to the DSI with the intent to apply design thinking in service of a solution to address the urgent global garbage crisis.
