“Rooted Restaurants” is reimagining restaurant resilience. The project focuses on local solutions and tools to co-create community restaurant resilience. The goal is to increase communications between restaurants on Avenue B in the East Village and their respective communities.

Evan Ressegger

Evan Ressegger is originally from North Carolina, and has been living in New York City for two years by way of Nashville, TN. A graduate of UNCG with a degree in English, she has been working in the non-profit sector for the past 5 years. Her work has included initiatives involving refugee resettlement, human trafficking, and youth development. Evan is excited to learn how design can create social change, and bring out important conversations.

Qingyi (Bridget) Qian

Bridget Qian is originally from Beijing, China, but comes to DSI from Chicago. She has been studying in the U.S. since she was 14. Whenever Bridget has returned home since moving to the U.S., she has witnessed different environmental problems and experienced the damage and frustration that comes with them. Seeing her home wounded and destroyed by human action makes Bridget worry that our next generation might not have the chance to see what they could have seen. Environmental protection is urgently necessary, and Bridget wants to use design as a tool to help protect her home.

Darya (Dasha) Zlochevsky

Darya Zlochevsky was born in Kiev, Ukraine and raised in a small village located on southwestern foothills of the Carpathian mountains. As a teenager she migrated to New York where she became fascinated with science and psychology. Darya studied Forensic Psychology and Law at John Jay College of Criminal Justice and attended Columbia University for her graduate degree in Psychology. With 8 years of research experience working in highly-collaborative multidisciplinary STEM environments, Darya is now interested in exploring avenues where design can aid in communication of scientific insights. Her aim is to bridge the gap between research, society and organizational growth.
