DSI will once again join the annual Better World by Design Conference, September 25th – 27th in Providence, RI. This year’s theme “Access” celebrates and supports design processes and solutions that aim to craft a society that is inclusive. Through a focus on collaboration and new mediums of translating ideas, ABWxD bridges the divides between people, communities, and resources, aiming to move closer to a practical utopia by designing for and from the perspectives of marginalized identities and spaces.
On Saturday, September 26th, from 5:30 — 6:30 DSI will lead a panel discussion titled: Four Big Ideas that Design for Inclusion. Facilitated by current DSI student Genieve Ramrattan, panelists include recent Alumni Robin Newman, Liora Yuklea, Gina Kim, and Akshata Malhotra. Each will present their stories of implementing ideas for access, and the boundaries they bumped against and had to bridge. For anyone committed to financial inclusion, access to health care, gender equality and homelessness, come hear how these designers conceived and implemented their ideas.
