Thesis Intensives: Getting Your Work Out There

With years of experience in fundraising and expanding partnerships, Thesis Advisor Kara Meyer knows a thing or two about publicizing and growing a project. In our latest thesis intensive–Getting Your Work Out There–Kara walked our students through some tips and tricks on effective PR strategies for their blossoming thesis projects.

Using Kara’s work at +POOL–the world’s first water-filtering, floating swimming pool–as a case study, students learned about the general process of publicizing. From goal setting, to identifying and researching target audiences, to scheduling, to designing assets, they reviewed terms and tools for getting their footing in the industry and how they intersect with other steps in the process.

The intensive encouraged students to get creative with their marketing, using new tactics and campaigns to make their ideas stand out to sow interest across communities and funders. With their strong community partnerships already in place, students have already taken some essential first steps needed to expand and publicize their hard work, and we’re excited to watch these projects grow and evolve.
