About DSI

Are you a Design for America Alumni?

MFA Design for Social Innovation (DSI) at the School of Visual Arts is offering a scholarship awarding $10,000 per year to one Design for America member who applies by Jan 15, 2020.

DSI is the first MFA of its kind, located in the heart of New York City. It’s a two-year, STEM-certified social design program. We offer a unique, experience-based curriculum that teaches not just skills, but the strengths, and methods required to do this work successfully in the real world with tangible outcomes. As a student, you will learn by making as you identify and scope challenges, research and develop insights, understand systems and how to work within them, lead the generation of new ideas, navigate uncertainty, align diverse communities, and facilitate change.

Our students have come from twenty-nine countries so far and our faculty, partners and courses are equally inclusive. You’ll be surrounded by working professionals who are leading social change in design, business, science, technology, data visualization and art.

To learn more about what our alums are doing, the curriculum, the kinds of projects you’ll work on and the practices you can master as a part of the incoming class of 2022, visit us at dsi.sva.edu. To schedule an informational call or tour, contact dsiinfo@sva.edu.

We want to help you find a brilliant career as a social designer. This is your year to make an impact.
