Open House was attended by a great group of over 20 prospective MFA candidates who were met by students, faculty, and alumni that all had valuable insights into the amazing program that is DSI. The enthusiasm and pride in the work we do was apparent, and potential students were given a clear look into the passionate, purpose-driven community we’ve built together.
Our new chair Miya Osaki welcomed guests and shared past projects, program updates, and new initiatives. Her presentation posited our curriculum as cross-disciplinary and diverse, and our alumni and faculty shared stories of both academic and personal growth to emphasize that. DSI gives students the mindset and skills to be social designers with the ability to identify the right problems and make critical impact in cities, corporate cultures, organizations, communities, the environment, and beyond.
Upon reflecting on the event, Miya Osaki says: “It’s inspiring to see how many people—from a range of backgrounds and experiences—are curious and committed about how to make a difference in the world. DSI is a space for learners and leaders.”
We’d like to sincerely thank all who attended for your time and attention. For those who couldn’t make it to our NYC open house, we hope you’ll join us online or reach out via email. We are looking forward to welcoming a new cohort of progressive change-makers next year.
