Hrudaya Veena Yanamandala, ’18, wins for thesis project at the HCI International 2018

Hrudaya Veena Yanamandala, ‘18, participated recently in the Human Computer Interaction Conference 2018 in Bangalore, India, which attracts academics from all over the world to discuss and collaborate on their work. Hrudaya presented her thesis work under this year’s theme of “Beyond and Behind the Screen.” She won second place for her project, “Headway: a survivor’s guide to survivorship.” Headway, developed with fellow ’18 alum Stephen Morrison, is a real-time survivor’s guide to support cancer survivors, connecting them to each other and to caring experts who can help them thrive.

Currently, Hrudaya works at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center to improve experiences for patients, caregivers, nurses, and doctors, using the design methodologies she honed at DSI.
