Earlier this summer, Yuka competed as a finalist in the Microsoft US Imagine Cup, a competition where student developers solve world challenges.
Yuka and her Microsoft teammates developed VRbal to help users who stutter prepare for an upcoming presentation. Unlike role-playing for a job interview or lecture with a friend or family member, VRbal is a virtual-reality system that allows users to practice in a more true-to-life form — that is, without someone they have already grown comfortable with.
Additionally, Yuka is an Adobe Design Achievement Awards Semifinalist for Social Impact in Web, App and Game Design. She recently spoke at the Games for Change Festival, and is currently working as an Entrepreneur in Residence at SVA’s Groundfloor Incubator.
