Yuka Fukuoka, ’18, is helping people who stutter overcome their social anxiety with VRbal.
On May 5, she’ll compete as a finalist in the Microsoft US Imagine Cup, a competition where student developers solve world challenges.
Yuka and her Microsoft teammates developed VRbal to help users who stutter practice for an upcoming presentation. Unlike role-playing for a job interview or lecture with a friend or family member, VRbal is a virtual-reality system that allows users to practice in a more true-to-life form — that is, without someone they have already grown comfortable with.
Learn more about Yuka’s personalized and realistic VRbal on May 1 at the DSI Thesis Show.
